Performance Issues
Android Headunit Running Slow After 2 Years - Performance Solutions
Is your Android ATC system lagging, apps taking forever to load, or touch screen not responding quickly? Here's our proven troubleshooting process for performance issues.
Common Performance Symptoms
Apps won't load or take forever to open:
- Netflix, YouTube, or Spotify stuck on loading screen
- Touch screen delays when tapping icons
- System freezing or becoming unresponsive
- Apps crashing unexpectedly
Step-by-Step Performance Fix
Step 1: Identify the Root Cause
First, tell us which specific apps are having problems:
- Are they downloaded from Google Play Store?
- Which apps are affected? (Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, etc.)
Step 2: Check for App Updates
1. Open Google Play Store on your headunit
2. Check for updates on the problematic apps
3. If apps won't update → This indicates your Android version is too old or Google services are outdated
Step 3: Factory Reset Solution (Devices Over 2 Years)
For devices over 2 years old experiencing lag:
1. Clear all data and reset to factory settings
2. Perform app updates for all applications after reset
3. This should restore optimal performance in most cases
Success Rate: Most devices see significant improvement after factory reset and updates.
Step 4: When Hardware Upgrade is Needed
If performance issues persist after factory reset:
- Your device may need a hardware upgrade to newer Android ATC model
- Older hardware often can't support newer app requirements
- Think of it like your phone - Android ATC systems behave similarly, performance declines as apps become more demanding
Firmware Update Solutions
When Apps Can't Update
If Google Play updates fail, we can:
- Update your firmware to make apps compatible
- "Redate" the firmware for better app support
- You might lose some features - for instance, Netflix, Disney+, ReVanced apps will not work. Note that all these are modded and sideloaded to install into the system.
Service Fees
Important: Any device more than 2 years old requiring firmware updates or compatibility fixes will need to pay service fees for this work.
